Responsibility:
Knowledge Transition:
- Interpret and assess business requirements by examining documents such as functional specifications and technical documents received from the client or onsite team.
- Engage in Knowledge Transfer (KT) calls to gain a comprehensive understanding of the requirements.
- Conduct reverse KT sessions with the client or onsite team to clarify requirements or provide detailed documentation on application/domain knowledge, ensuring mutual understanding.
- Create and maintain a query log (tracker) to monitor and manage inquiries.
- Follow up diligently to ensure timely resolution of queries as recorded in the query log.
- Arrange KT sessions for onboarding new team members, facilitating their understanding of project requirements and processes.
- Deliver training sessions on relevant tools, such as ETL tools, as necessary.
- Obtain signoff from the client team to validate completion and acceptance of deliverables.
Test Requirement Study:
Participate in requirement walkthrough sessions led by the Test Analyst to identify any gaps in the requirements. Seek clarification from the Test Architect when necessary.
Update the clarification tracker with any queries or clarifications regarding requirements.
Identify initial test data requirements.
Offer insights to the Test Lead or Senior Test Analyst regarding the testing scope, estimated analyst effort for the workload, requirement analysis and clarification, and testing approach.
Test Planning:
Document the test plan selectively for projects categorized as simple and small-sized, where approximately two offshore team members are needed to support the assignment.
Based on the test strategy understanding, outline the test plan covering project specifics, items within scope, out-of-scope items, testing types, assumptions, dependencies, anticipated risks, and entry/exit criteria for each cycle.
Obtain client signoff on the finalized test plan.
Contribute to test plan creation by providing inputs such as the number of test scenarios and cases used for estimating test cycles/schedules
, identifying dependencies, and coordinating with other teams for necessary resources like environment availability and third-party interface test data.
Offer guidance to the Test Lead or Senior Test Analyst regarding test tool evaluation, if required.
Test Design:
Identify and define testable scenarios, documenting them in a test scenario document.
Track query resolutions via a query log.
Request review from the senior test analyst or test lead offshore.
Update the requirements traceability matrix with the newly created test scenarios.
Obtain client sign-off on the finalized test scenarios.
Upon sign-off, proceed to identify test cases and required test data.
Map the requirements to the corresponding test scenarios and test cases in QC (Quality Center) or any relevant testing tool.
Communicate test data requests and requirements to the test data management team for provisioning.
Test Development:
Once the test scenarios have been signed off, proceed to identify the necessary test data.
Develop test cases in accordance with the requirements, ensuring comprehensive test coverage.
If utilizing the Quality Center (Test Management Tool), adhere to the established processes and guidelines throughout the development phase.
For test cases documented in Excel, structure them to facilitate seamless uploading to the Quality Center for enhanced reusability.
Update the Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) and query log with details of the test cases and associated test data, as applicable.
Adjust existing regression scenarios as needed to accommodate any changes resulting from the impact of the modifications.
Test Execution and Closure:
- Perform smoke testing to verify system readiness.
- Execute automation scripts/manual test cases thereafter.
- Document and manage testing evidence, monitoring the status of assigned test cases.
- Communicate findings to the Senior Test Analyst.
- Identify and report defects, tracking them to closure through the QC tool.
- Participate in defect triages for prioritization and resolution.
- Retest defects and update their status accordingly.
- Conduct acceptance testing when necessary.
- Monitor defect metrics for testing effectiveness.
- Track the number of test cases executed daily for productivity assessment.
- Offer deployment and post-production support as needed.
- Determine the test suite for execution, if applicable.
- Provide input to the Senior Test Analyst for the test summary report.
Audit:
Conduct audits across different stages to ensure compliance with Cognizant processes and guidelines.
Knowledge Management:
Develop and maintain a Knowledge Repository, updating artifacts as per project and customer requirements, incorporating business and application level requirements details in a WIKI format.
